I bought this lamp for a desk lamp. Luckily, I have a large desk. This lamp is far larger and bulkier than the photo would lead one to believe -- yes, it pays to read the measurements. Even so, the base is quite bulky as well, leaving a large footprint on my desk. Basically, it looks in the photo like a desk lamp, but size-wise, it's more like a table lamp.

However! I like the lamp. It's attractive, it's the style I wanted, it's sturdy and well-made. It looks good on my big desk. Part of the reason I chose this lamp was because it accepts 60-watt bulbs; I like a lot of light on my desk. I like the adjustable shade feature also.

In short, it's a nice lamp, does what I want it to do -- just be prepared for the size and bulk of the thing, and make sure you have room.
