I use this lamp with a 45w Full Spectrum CFL bulb (larger than the regular bulb that comes with it) and find it is the best reading lamp I have ever had. I only wish that the manufacturer would not use specialized terms when indicating the type of bulb used in the lamp. It uses a bulb with a regular (typical incandescent) base. I had to research to find out that the term used by the manufacturer meant simply that. But that does not detract from the lamp. It has a very heavy base making it a very stable, solid lamp.
