It complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard 1910.1030 on bloodborne pathogens for the safe containment of infectious waste. The damper-controlled lid closes gently, making it suitable for places where a quiet environment is desired. The piano hinge has a restraining mechanism to help prevent the lid from flipping backward. Stainless steel resists rust, stains, and corrosion. This trash can includes a rigid, leak-resistant plastic liner to help contain liquids. Retainer bands hold a disposable liner securely in place and out of sight (liners sold separately) .
