It's portable, good lighting, it's light, rechargeable and it magnifies VERY well, clearly and it's got a fine/coarse adjustment so you can also see both the surface of things and deeper into the object. You don't have to remove parts to change magnification. My daughter has been using it for lots of examinations.

The photo is incorrect and misleading, b/c it doesn't come with any slide making supplies. Which was a drag.

At a recent party, all the girls ran upstairs and spent a lot of time using it. Quite a hit! Even if they were looking at hair, rug fibers, drool and Cheetos crumbs.

I wish it had a case, and I wish it came with a slide making starter kit, not just some plastic slides. Adult kits were too expensive and complicated; the kids' set I bought separately was kind of .... kid-like and dull.

Overall I'm really thrilled that I didn't go cheaper and get a kiddie-waste-of-money set. The monocular style works well. The CAMERA however, purchased separately and really expensive, doesn't work well. Major major bummer.
