I love the lamp part of this floor lamp,but the shade is just ridiculous. It's huge, bright white plastic. It cheapens what is a very elegant fixture. I ended up buying a new shade -- and finding a shade large enough for this size floor lamp is not easy or cheap (in other words, no luck at target, walmart or ikea). In my opinion, the shade shown on the picture is not the shade that is shipped with the lamp. the picture shows it to be slightly off white or ivory. It is not. It is stark white. It also seems much larger diameter-wise than the one shown.

My 'computer desk' at home consists of one of those 8 foot folding tables. The distance between both legs of the table is about 72 inches, but the longest chair mat I could find in local office supply stores was 60 inches. For this reason, I went looking online for one that was at least 70 inches.

I saw several 72 inch chair mats here on Amazon, but most of them were of the bamboo variety. And the reviews for those were very hit or miss, and they were kind of pricey too. Plus, what I really wanted was just your average, 'garden variety' chair mat, but just a little bigger than usual.

That's when I ran across this chair mat. There were no reviews for it, but I decided to take a gamble and order it anyway. The mat arrived today, and turned out to be just what I needed. And best of all, even though it's not eligible for Amazon Prime, they did not charge me anything to ship it. On the downside though, it took them a couple of weeks to send it off.

As the product description states, there is no lip on mine, which is fine by me. I'm hoping it won't start to crack any time soon (I'm using it on carpet), and if it does, I'll update this review. So far though, it's perfect!

UPDATE 5/30/11: After nearly 6 months of using this chair mat on average for 8-10 hours a day, the first small crack has appeared. I figure it'll be quite awhile before it becomes unusable though.

In an attempt to save money, we purchased a refill kit rather than the company's cartridges. This amounted to substantial savings (over $400!) and the instructions were very clear. I was, however, a little shocked that I was supposed to take a hot utility knife to a $250 cartridge!!

The instructions were clear, but I wouldn't say the refills were easy. I hesitate to do it again, despite the cost savings, because it was messy and a drawn-out process.

In the end, we have not received the same quality of print that we did from the company's cartridges. It is acceptable, but not nearly as nice of quality. We're relegated to in-house work with the quality (or lack of) that it's giving.

GBC HeatSeal H220 Pouch Laminator, 9 Inches, Black (1703017) Review

I've always wanted one, and finally broke down and got one when my daughter's artwork really deserved to be displayed and preserved. The peel and stick kind just doesn't compare. I purchased the laminator sheets by GBC and inserted the artwork inside and ran it through the machine. The machine heated up very quickly (less than 5 minutes, but be sure to press the button for either 3mm or 5mm). Just plugging it in does not ready the machine for laminating. It does not get hot to handle and the the sound when on is nonexistent. When you are running a sheet through it, the sound is a low hum. The laminating is quick with no air bubbles or areas where there isn't a seal. Besides art work, I've used it to laminate study guides, book marks, business cards (for suitcase ID tag), name plates (for school pick up), chore charts, and practice math sheets. In the last two instances, I just have my child use dry erase markers on it and they can be wiped clean and used again. This laminator is very professional looking, works professionally, and is all one piece. It's easy to store and very solidly built. If your usage requires laminating something larger than the 9 inch opening, I'd recommend the larger size. Compared to some of the $30 models offered from other brands, this one is well made and I foresee using it a long time.

It doesn't work wirelessly with my new phones so it sits on a shelf and no one is using it. We had to buy a different printer to do the job. However, the printer works great if you plug it in to a computer, it is just the wireless that does not work consistently. It is fast and the print looks great.
