OK, so I do not know what brand my group has had for the past 30 years but it seemed that one comment was better than none at all if it helps you think about your purchase. Our premium wood laminate tables look just like the ones in the picture. Ours have reinforced edges and locking metal legs. The reinforcing on the edges appears to be thin metal that is flush with the table top but I wouldn't swear to it being metal.
The pros are:
Even after 30 years they are still like new except for some scrapes on the sides mostly from dragging them from place to place. I expect them to be in good shape in 50 yrs. from now if not much longer.
They have a smoother writing surface than the plastic and resin tables that I have seen.
They are very easy to wipe clean.
They are very sturdy when set up. I notice that when we use them for garage sales someone always wants to buy them.
They are also still totally flat which makes a big difference when we present flower arrangements. The flatness also helps these tables look elegant under tablecloths.
The only con is:
These tables are heavy and a nuisance to set up for that reason. A 65 yr. old woman can do it by themselves but would prefer not to and the guys don't really like doing it by themselves either. If you always have two people around to perform that chore it helps tremendously and it actually becomes easy. Take-down seems to be easier I guess because it is easier to tip the table on its side than to set it upright from a position on its side. But again with two people it is not a problem.
