It is a very nice bookshelf that actually looks like "real" furniture as it is finished wood, NOT particle board with a laminated photographic woodgrain. It took me only about 30 minutes to assemble the first one that I received. I was so pleased that I ordered a second one. This is when the trouble set in.

The second one arrived with damage (gouges, chips, scratches) to many of the wooden pieces. I contacted Amazon and they were very helpful, paying the return shipping and sending out a replacement via 1-day shipping. Unfortunately, the third one just arrived. When I first opened the carton, I was excited as there was no broken Styrofoam or readily apparent damage to the first couple of pieces I removed. It was devastating to unpackage the Top Shelf and discover a huge 1-1/2" long gouge in the top edge.

Needless to say, this one is going back as well. I have given up on getting a companion piece for the first one much to my disappointment. The shelf looks so nice but the packaging is AWFUL!!! All the manufacturer needs to do is to make the carton a bit larger and add move corrugated or higher density Styrofoam around the inside perimeter to protect the pieces. Order it only if you want a solid bookshelf but aren't especially concerned about appearance. Otherwise the odds are that you - like me - will end up very disappointed and frustrated.
