The 8-foot Pitsco 37516 Aluminum Maglev II Track is made of sturdy aluminum, has two parallel magnetic strips inside for racing maglev vehicles including the Pitsco Levitator Maglev vehicles, and demonstrates magnetic levitation for students in grades 3-12 studying the scientific concepts of magnetism, center of mass, and aerodynamic drag. It is made of two 4-foot sections of track that combine to create an 8-foot track for testing and racing maglev vehicles. The track can be used with gravity-driven and battery-operated maglev vehicles. The track can also accommodate electric maglev vehicles by applying an electric current to the track with a DC power supply and leads such as the Pitsco 37797 Maglev E Track Power Supply (sold separately). The two parallel magnetic strips measure 1/2 x 1/4-inch (W x T). (W is the horizontal distance from left to right; T is the thickness from top to bottom.) The inner track measures 2-9/16 inches wide and 1-1/2 inches high and accommodates one maglev vehicle, while the overall track height is 2-1/2 inches. The track requires some assembly, and it comes with two assembly pins and instructions. A maglev track is typically used in an educational setting demonstrate magnetic levitation, physic, and engineering.

Pitsco Aluminum Maglev II Magnetic Levitator Track, 8' Length Review

This track was purchased for the Science Olympiad MagLev event.

The packaging was very poor; there was no styrofoam or anything and one corner of the extrusion was slightly bent. This did not seem to affect the straightness of the track.

The track is made of two aluminum extrusions bolted together with a nylon (non-conductive) spacer. This allows both sides of the track to be electrified, however this feature was not tested. The track is in 2 halves, which are joined by two rods that fit into both sides. This works, but is prone to misallignment. My team scraped this and used an external apparatus to keep the tracks straight. Provided are two magnetic strips and a few rolls of 3M double sided foam adhesive. This works, however it is hard to get the magnet evenly spaced from the track wall.

I would recommend this, as anyone buying it should have the technical knowledge to overcome any design flaws.

ORE International 4 Tier Bookshelves - Cherry Review

It is a very nice bookshelf that actually looks like "real" furniture as it is finished wood, NOT particle board with a laminated photographic woodgrain. It took me only about 30 minutes to assemble the first one that I received. I was so pleased that I ordered a second one. This is when the trouble set in.

The second one arrived with damage (gouges, chips, scratches) to many of the wooden pieces. I contacted Amazon and they were very helpful, paying the return shipping and sending out a replacement via 1-day shipping. Unfortunately, the third one just arrived. When I first opened the carton, I was excited as there was no broken Styrofoam or readily apparent damage to the first couple of pieces I removed. It was devastating to unpackage the Top Shelf and discover a huge 1-1/2" long gouge in the top edge.

Needless to say, this one is going back as well. I have given up on getting a companion piece for the first one much to my disappointment. The shelf looks so nice but the packaging is AWFUL!!! All the manufacturer needs to do is to make the carton a bit larger and add move corrugated or higher density Styrofoam around the inside perimeter to protect the pieces. Order it only if you want a solid bookshelf but aren't especially concerned about appearance. Otherwise the odds are that you - like me - will end up very disappointed and frustrated.

I bought this printer for my billing dept and we love it. It was fast, printed crisp and everything was excellent. We service 3 other facilities from one central location and that is where the problems began. Locally connected, this printer in conjunction with an additional 3rd tray, worked like a dream. Over Remote Desktop through the re-direct---- it did not. No amount of drivers or technical support could get the remote desktop to recognize the third tray. After several frustrating hours on the phone with Xerox tech support (which was not very helpful, they gave up on trying to fix it defaulting it to be a Microsoft problem) to scouring the web for results--- we decided to return it.

If you are only going to use it locally, I would say it is a 4 star printer.
If you are not, I would say DONT BUY IT!

Canon Pixma MP610 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2180B002) Review

I have used my MP610 for only one month, but am extremely pleased. I didn't time it, but the "Fast" mode is very fast and better than draft quality for documents. Color does suffer in "Fast" mode. I had banding in a solid black field and colors weren't as true to original. But in 'standard' mode I detected no obvious faults. The 'High' mode with photo paper has outstanding color and detail to my layman eyes. I've printed heavy card stock (45#) with no problem. I dearly love the Duplex feature. I had paper feed problems with my previous HP printer, but this internal Duplex mechanism is much more than I expected at this price. The description and pictures of the product did not addequately show the paper feed options. There is a straight through feed from a raised paper holder in the rear requiring a height clearence of more than 7 inches over the height of the printer. The feed tray also leans slightly back requiring about 4 more inches clearance behind the machine. Also to my surprise there is a paper feed cassette in the bottom of the printer. It pulls out forward to load and then is reinserted. It can hold multiple sized paper, and presents a 'U' shaped feed path. I've yet to use it.
The 610 functions well as a color copy machine. I've used the scanner once to scan a company's gold emblem to use on 'home made' business cards and found the quality more than adequate in color and detail. I have NO complaints, yet.
